Therapy for women who are tired of doubting themselves.
Hi. I’m Dr. Janice.
If you’re here, you’ve probably been holding it together for a long time. You function. You achieve. You show up. You take care of other people. You keep going.
But inside, you feel anxious, overwhelmed, and exhausted. You overthink. You second-guess yourself. You can’t relax. You can’t shut your brain off. You might look fine on paper, but emotionally, you feel like you’re always bracing for the next thing.
Sometimes the biggest issue is not anxiety itself. It’s what created the anxiety.
A relationship that slowly trained you not to trust yourself.
Gaslighting. Control. Narcissistic abuse. Emotional manipulation.
Or the relentless pressure to stay strong, stay quiet, stay “fine.”
If that’s you, I want you to know something.
You are not crazy.
You are not “too sensitive.”
You are not broken.
You are depleted. And you are ready.
What I Help With
Therapy with me can help you:
- Rebuild self-trust after gaslighting or emotional abuse
- Stop living in constant hypervigilance and overthinking
- Set boundaries without guilt, people-pleasing, or overexplaining
- Recover from burnout and chronic survival mode
- Break patterns that keep pulling you back into unhealthy dynamics
- Feel like yourself again
This is not therapy where we talk in circles for years.
This is therapy where we build insight, skills, and real change.
My Style
I’m warm. I’m compassionate. I’m also direct.
I will validate you. I will support you. I will help you calm your nervous system and make sense of what you’ve lived through.
And I will tell you the truth.
I lay all the cards on the table, every time.
That means I’m not always going to tell you what you want to hear. But I will always tell you what I believe will help you heal.
You deserve honesty with compassion.
Who I Work Best With
I work best with clients who are ready to do the work it takes to create change. Therapy does not stop when the session ends. The session is where we build the plan. Your life is where you practice it.
If you want to heal, you will need to be willing to:
- Reflect honestly
- Take feedback without defensiveness
- Practice skills outside of session
- Challenge old patterns
- Build self-respect through action, not just insight
You do not need to be perfect. You do need to be willing.
Therapy With Me Is Not a Good Fit If…
I want to be clear about this upfront. It protects you, and it protects the therapy process.
Therapy with me is probably not a good fit if:
- You want validation without accountability
- You want therapy to be a place to vent, but not change
- You believe your life is permanently doomed and nothing will ever help
- You expect everyone else to change while you stay the same
- You are committed to victim mode and not interested in agency
- You are not willing to do any work between sessions
I understand why some people get stuck there. I truly do.
But I can’t help you build a new life if you refuse to pick up the tools.
If you’re ready for honesty, structure, and real movement, I will be in your corner with everything I’ve got.
Values Matter Here
Therapy is not neutral. Systems are not neutral.
I am anti-racist, LGBTQ+ affirming, and social justice oriented.
You will not be asked to minimize your lived experience.
You will not be pathologized for reacting to injustice.
You will not have to educate me on your humanity.
Political Grief Is Real
If the world feels frightening right now, you are not imagining it.
Political grief can look like rage, numbness, anxiety, panic, hopelessness, or emotional exhaustion. Therapy can help you regulate without disconnecting. It can help you stay grounded while still caring deeply.
We can hold reality and still build a life worth living.
What Therapy Looks Like at Nova Tide Counseling
Together, we will work on:
- Nervous system regulation and coping skills that actually work
- Identifying manipulation patterns and rebuilding self-trust
- Boundaries, assertive communication, and self-respect
- Healing trauma responses and reclaiming identity
- Creating a life not organized around fear, guilt, or chaos
I offer a free 15-minute consultation to get a broad view of what you’re dealing with and see if we are a good fit.
If we move forward, we begin with a more in-depth intake session. Then we meet regularly, most often weekly or every other week. You will have structure. You will have tools. You will have a plan.
If I’m not the best fit for what you need, I will tell you. And I will help you find the right resources.
